We have been implementing VOIP solutions since 1999. In that time we have seen many changes. Most recently we've seen a change in price that excites us. We're happy to share that information with you.

The Traditional Approach

This compares a standard PBX offering from a "low price" manufacturer.

This is an "all proprietary" solution. The PBX will use only their proprietary handsets. The handsets only work with their PBX. The licenses are locked to that PBX only. Their integration licenses costs about as much as the best model handsets we recommend. This quote was provided to a customer by a wiring firm with no local network technicians.

The handsets work with any SIP based phone system. The server is an actual "server", it can be used over for something else. The telephony gateway is usable with many VOIP phone systems.

  • There is not a cost at the phone system for licensing.
  • There is not a cost at the phone system to add a telephone (just the handset, if desired).
  • There is not a cost to integrate into the PC (dial from ACT/Outlook, etc.).
  • There is not a cost for a handset if you want to use a "softphone" (PC software as the phone. Advanced softphones cost 60.00 depending on your needs. A decent USB headset can be picked up from the local office supply store for 40.00 if you do not have one. Softphones are available on Linux/MAC/Windows PC's.
  • We can automate the backup of the phone system to our office each day.
  • We include a UPS for the phone system for power blips.
  • We can use the same wiring as the computer network for the handsets.
  • We can specify the hardware for you and let you buy it independently.
  • You can manage the phone system from a web browser or we can help you.
  • We include a FAX appliance too.

Sound interesting? Wait until you see "under the hood" so to speak. Remote users or remote offices can be linked via the Internet. You can even make calls from the phone system to a "sip:" url without a telephone line. We can link remote buildings "warehouses" and we can integrate wireless SIP-DECT phones and provide coverage for a factory floor or shipping terminal.

The best thing is, it's cheaper to buy now than a traditional phone system. We can even integrate "internet" lines into the telephony gateway and let it route calls based on costs (long distance calls go over the internet lines, local calls go over the standard phone lines), this is called "Least Cost Routing". With a lot of phone systems, you have to hit a particular line on the handset or dial a special code to make this happen, with our approach you dial a number and it knows the least expesnsive way to complete that call.
