Install the VPN at home

To access the network at your company, the following is assumed:

1. You are accessing a PC which has been left on (logged off is fine, but it mst be turned on).

2. You are using a Windows XP Operating System remotely (at home, or at another office) and that you can install software on this remote computer.

3. You have a working Internet connection (any broadband connection should work fine).

First, you must have your setup package that was created for you.

Now you must install the program, it's easy.  Double-click the file openvpn-2.0.9-gui-1.0.3-install.exe and let it install. Take all the defaults.

Once that is done, there will be a directory on your PC called "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config". Move these other two files (*.ovpn and *.pem) into that folder.

You're all set.

How to use the VPN

Now double-click the VPN icon in the system tray (where the date and time is in the lower right-hand corner of the screen). It looks like this:

You will get a screen to login to the system that looks like this:

Now put in the username/password that was assigned to you. If you don't have one, ask for someone to create an account for you. The icon changes to a yellow color while you login.

When the login is successful, the icon truns green like this, connected.jpg.

Now that you are connected, you can print to the copier, view faxes or control your desktop.
